Didactic and Experiential Workshops

Led by Connie Kramer, LPC, NBCC, and Faculty at the Gestalt Institute of Pittsburgh, these one-day intensive workshops will explore core Gestalt concepts through theory discussions, live demonstrations, and hands-on practice of Gestalt therapy-based skills.

Five Continuing Education Credits will be offered through the Gestalt Institute of Pittsburgh.

Workshop 1

An Experiential Introduction to Gestalt Therapy

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon Completion of this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Identify the three pillars of Gestalt Therapy and discuss the importance of each of these in the therapeutic setting.
  • Describe the Gestalt approach to cycle of experience: sensation and awareness, mobilization and contact, and integration and
    assimilation through the lens of embodied presence.
  • Conduct Gestalt therapy awareness exercises to increase self- understanding, modulate mood, make choices, improve health, and
    become emotionally grounded.
  • Explain the Paradoxical Theory of Change

Workshop 2

An Experiential Introduction to Gestalt Therapy II

Pre-requisite of Introduction to Gestalt Therapy I required.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon Completion of this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Describe the Gestalt Cycle of Experience
  • Apply the Gestalt approach to cycle of experience: sensation and awareness, mobilization and contact, and integration and assimilation through the lens of embodied presence.
  • Discuss the Gestalt therapy fundamental goals of making contact and awareness
  • List the ways that contact can be modified along various spectrums.
  • Conduct Gestalt therapy awareness exercises to increase self-understanding, modulate mood, make choices, improve health, and
    become emotionally grounded.

  • Explain the Three Zones of Awareness through the framework of Gestalt theory.
  • Explain the Three Zones of Awareness through the framework of Gestalt theory.
  • Conduct Gestalt therapy awareness exercises to increase self-understanding, modulate mood, make choices, improve health, and become emotionally grounded.
  • Describe the Gestalt approach to change cycle of experience: sensation and awareness, mobilization and contact, and integration and assimilation through the lens of embodied presence.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon Completion of this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Describe awareness from a Gestalt theory perspective and discuss the importance of awareness in Gestalt therapy.
  • Define the Gestalt concept of a Polarity.
  • Explain Integration and Assimilation related to the concept of polarities.
  • Explain the goal of Experimentation in a therapeutic setting.
